Readers, welcome to the Year of the Snake ! We wish everyone a thriving and prosperous year ahead. Let's analyse the 2025 BaZi:
The Lunar New Year in 2025 will fall on January 29th. However, the actual first day of Spring for the Year of the Snake in 2025 will be on February 3rd at 10:27 PM (Gregorian Calendar). This means the Chinese New Year arrives before the Spring Festival. The four pillars (BaZi) of this date are Yi Si (乙巳) Year, Wu Yin (戊寅) Month, Gui Mao (癸卯) Day, and Gui Hai (癸亥) Hour. The four pillars express the energies of a specific date and time in terms of the five elements: wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. These pillars can then be used to analyse the year's fortune.
According to Chinese astrology, the four pillars of destiny (BaZi) are based on the elements of earth, wood, fire, water, and metal. The first day of the Snake belongs to the Water element, while the other three pillars of the month, year, and time belong to Wood, Earth, and Water elements. The Water element (first day of the Snake) is drained by the Wood (earth stem of the month) and invaded by Earth (heaven stem of the month); the strong Fire of the year pillar also drains the first day. Although the time pillar belongs to Water and can support the first day of the Snake, it transforms into the Wood element, further draining the first day. Therefore, the first day of the Snake is very weak. Metal can generate Water, and Fire (wealth) is hiring and lacking support for the first day of Water. The first pillar of the year, Wood and Fire, support each other, blocking the path of wealth. Meanwhile, Wood communicates with the earth stem of Wood in the first day of the Snake. Therefore, in 2025, the Wood element is very strong and invades the Earth element (officials), making the year unstable, fluctuating, and difficult. How can wealth be obtained?
The official star is weak and interacts negatively with the wealth star, resulting in economic challenges. Tensions between nations and individuals will lead to financial loss. The Wu Earth official star is restricted and unable to exert control, leading to a lack of support from governmental and local authorities. The real estate market remains subdued, with competition and disputes affecting business across various regions.
The star of officials is weak and disruptive. Australia will distance itself from the USA, refraining from complete alignment. The supportive star is hiding and cannot shine on the first day of Water, which is also invaded by the official (Earth) star. The Year of the Snake brings weak resources, suppressed wealth, and significant fluctuations in finance. This year is unsuitable for investments in finance, stocks, banking, hardware, timber, and paper industries. The presence of a sickness star in the centre also warns of possible contamination in water sources.
The official star aligns with the first day of the year, indicating that national authorities will adopt high-pressure tactics on their people, causing public dissatisfaction. Due to the weak Water, national leaders lack wisdom in handling international disputes, and the transportation and logistics industries may face further disruption. The Wood element is also strong, and Metal is weak and unable to balance it, increasing the risks of accidents, missteps in communication, and financial instability, especially in the lunar months of March and April. Gold represents a glamorous attitude but is hollow inside, reflecting an external sheen in the West but lacking true value and stability.
The USA, leading Western nations, will continue to impose sanctions on China, but these will prove ineffective. Although water industries and infrastructure may still benefit, they are restrained by Earth elements. Investment in aquaculture and transportation industries will be challenging, particularly in the lunar months of June and July, where seismic activity or disasters may affect areas in Asia, including the Philippines, Japan, Singapore, and Vietnam.
With unstable wealth stars and tension between Wood and Metal, the financial environment will be turbulent, and investors must be cautious. Economic conditions and financial prospects in the Year of the Snake look challenging. The transportation, aquaculture, construction, real estate, and tourism sectors will face pressure. Southeast Asia, however, is expected to see favourable developments as water flows toward it. The Year of the Snake will see Western nations struggling with directionless, ad hoc decisions, lacking cohesive plans, as they attempt to rally allies against China. Yet, with strong Wood and weak Metal, these efforts will ultimately prove fruitless.
In the Year of the Snake, the Wood element is strong, while Metal is weak. Western countries, led by the United States, will find their influence waning and face limitations in enforcing sanctions, accelerating the shift away from the US dollar. The strong Wood element drains the influence of the Japanese yen’s Water element, symbolizing increased movement and internalization this year. Financial conditions are strained, as countries struggle to manage their finances effectively and navigate differences, leading to intensified conflicts. The clash between Water and Fire indicates significant resource consumption, intensifying competition in global trade as nations seek new opportunities.
In the Year of the Snake, the Earth element invades Water, leading to global disputes over resources and territories, including issues with water pollution. The USA will attempt to strengthen alliances to counterbalance China, but with weak Metal, these efforts will prove ineffective. Industries related to Earth—such as real estate, construction, and tourism—face challenges from strong Wood. However, industries like medical, pharmaceutical, electronics, and cultural sectors will potentially grow as they leverage Metal to generate wealth.
With economic changes and competition intensifying, Southeast Asian nations might find challenges in communication. Global information flow may become chaotic, with intentional misinformation affecting communication and understanding.
The Star of Wealth is hidden, and the only element of Earth is combined and transformed into Fire, which will be strong in Summer and conquer Metal. Western fortune will be challenged and seriously affected. Especially in the lunar months of April and May, America and European countries will have no cards to play and will pretend to be feasted toward China and Southern countries.
In the Year of the Snake, solar and electro-dynamic energies are competitive. In the lunar months of April and May, wealth and prosperity will be competitive, but the property industry will be just fair, with big rises and big falls unlikely.
In the Year of the Snake, the source of wealth is invaded, and investment conditions are restrained. How can wealth be obtained? Due to the star of wealth being invaded, people’s minds are biased. The Wood element lacks support, and the Water element is also restrained, making it hard for people to express their dialects and thoughts. Some Southeast countries will have a hard time expressing and talking about themselves.
The Fire element, which represents the internet and information sector, is weakened this year, possibly leading to increased health concerns, such as heart and circulatory issues, and conditions affecting the kidneys, bones, and other organs.
As the Year of the Snake begins, we enter the second year of the Ninth Period 20-year cycle. The Great Wealth Star, Eight White Earth Star, starts to decline, while the Nine Purple Fire Star takes charge in the Central Palace, radiating across all directions. The Ninth Purple star signifies both auspicious qualities like celebration, culture, and brilliance and, on the other hand, destructive events, disasters, or explosions if negatively activated. The Nine Purple Fire Star in the centre represents power, dominance, and impulsive energy. Africa is set to benefit from the intense southern fire element in the Ninth Period, leading to a rise in national fortunes across its nations. This cycle supports the empowerment of women, elevating the influence of middle-aged women and female leaders.
The “2 Black Illness Star” will occupy the Central Palace, intensifying viral influences. The Middle East is especially vulnerable to severe viruses, disasters, disputes, cancers, eye conditions, and urinary and prostate issues, along with heart, brain, and circulatory problems. These health crises will likely worsen economic recovery and dampen the global economy further.
The “3 Jade Dispute Star” will fly to the Northwest, “Chien position” and align with the annual “Year Breaker” in this position, heightening conflict between Metal and Wood. This brings disputes, confrontations, bullying, and power struggles, exacerbating tensions between China and the West, especially the USA, through sanctions and counter-sanctions. However, as Wood overcomes Metal, the USA is likely exhausting its options, symbolizing a decline in Western power and a rise in the East. The Ninth Cycle’s One White Water Star also appears here, energizing the Three Jade Star and strengthening the Wood element. This combination favours scholarly pursuits, relationships, mobility, and high-ranking positions but also leads to numerous romantic entanglements, scandals, intense disputes, and rising public emotions. It may bring respiratory ailments, unidentified viruses, and illnesses affecting the chest and lungs, along with generational conflicts and vulnerabilities for elders in the household. Strong Wood energy weakens the Northwest's influences. With the “Year Breaker” in the Northwest this year, the Year of the Snake is unfavourable for large-scale construction in this direction, as it could bring misfortune.
The 4 Green Intellectual Star flies to the West Tui position, joined by the Nine Period Cycle's Two Black Sickness Star in this position. The Yin deities govern, with conflicts between fire and metal elements. Western countries, led by the USA, may exhaust every means to provoke and sanction China, but the USA is running out of leverage, and China is likely to respond forcefully. The West will see more disputes, as the Nine Period Star combines with Tui position to form innate fire that disrupts the position’s energy. Consequently, Western countries may experience a further decline in fortune, facing challenges in industries such as timber, paper, furniture, finance, transportation, and aquaculture. The Yin deity’s presence may bring damage to reputations, the spread of viruses, and natural disasters.
The 5 Yellow Ominous Star will occupy the Northwest Gen position, bringing illnesses, controversies, acute diseases, food poisoning, drug reactions, gynecological issues, severe diseases, accidents, and digestive, urinary, respiratory, and lung-related illnesses likely to affect the Southwest. However, the presence of the Eight White Auspicious Star in the Gen position counterbalances this misfortune, softening its negative energy. In the Nine Period Cycle, the 5 Yellow is associated with wealth if water is in place.
The 6 White Prosperity Wealth Star, which is metal in nature, will be in the South Li position. There will be intense fire energy in this region, leading to dry soil. The Six White Star complements the fiery South; with proper feng shui arrangements, this region could still see development and wealth opportunities. However, conflicts may arise, as symbolized by the "burning heaven gate," leading to rebellious actions and familial discord.
The negative 7 Red Destructive Star, which is metal in nature, occupies the North Kan position, benefiting the North region. This region, including northern areas such as Russia and northern China, will likely see an increase in finance, fortune, and reputation. However, due to the abundance of the water element in the Northern part, migration and mobility, with the public prone to flirtation and romantic affairs, will also be elevated. Residents in these regions will experience urinary and gynecological issues. In the Nine Period Cycle, associated with the Golden Dragon Star, the Five Yellow is associated with wealth and prosperity if water is in place.
The 8 Wealth Star, which is an earth element, arrives at the north K’un position, bringing celebratory events. However, the strong earth element here requires metal to relieve it, as kidney, bladder, back pain, and stomach issues may arise. With the Wealth Star’s presence, financial and career luck should be favourable in the Year of the Snake.
The 9 Purple Happiness Star, which is a fire element in nature, occupies the East Chen position. This region will see celebratory events such as marriages and births. However, some negatives may also emerge, such as susceptibility to diseases like meningitis or monkey-pox. The year’s heavenly fire affects this area, increasing the likelihood of natural disasters, earthquakes, and tsunamis in the East and Southeast.
The 1 White Official Star, which is water in nature, arrives at the Souteast Sun position. The mutual support between water and wood here promotes literary, cultural, and academic progress. However, with Tai Sui also occupying this position, a commanding influence governs all directions. The combined energy of water, wood, and metal brings strong romance and seduction, affecting the eldest son of the family. The powerful wood in the East contrasts with weakened metal, as Western nations’ attempts to display dominance in the South China Sea they may deplete their national strength. In the Southeast, signs of water or toilets could activate romantic entanglements.
Please note that there are many different outcomes with various combinations of the positions of the Flying and Current stars, which cannot be covered in this brief analysis. You may also be interested in the other companion articles written by the author, such as “Yi Si Year – 12 Animals Zodiac.”
